This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri has pretty much stopped buying bagels, since "Al" insists on eating 3 or 4 at a time. However daughter number two ( the one who shields her heart with her sleeve) was coming home from college this week and Sheri wanted some available to her, so hence the challenge began. "Al" took frozen butter from the freezer and attempted to spread it on his sandwich, then by mistake, he stacked three half's of a bagel on one sandwich. What proceeded next was an intense game of what reminded Sheri of the very old "which cup has the ball under it" as "Al" tried to re-stack the correct lid to the correct bagel. It took "Al" about five tries before he landed the extra bagel half on the remaining bagel, and that time she believes... was purely by accident. :)
