This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri let Bob and "Al" help her fix the squirrel baffle that had fallen over the long winter. She gave him the screw driver (something he has not used in a very long time). Together step by step with very short clear direction, and Sheri's assistance, he was able to tighten the screw to keep the baffle up. This made him extremely happy and was standing a little taller when he was done, crooked... but taller. Later that evening Daughter number 2 ( the one that shields her heart with her sleeve) said "Mom, you have to come see this." Sheri realized, that screw driver was such an important part of Bob's past, he placed it with the most important part of his attire, his belt and his watch.  :)

  1. My heart can only read a couple of your posts a day. There is so much I'd like to write - and will later - but for now - I would like to say thank you for what you are sharing - and the unique way you are doing it. The two names are brilliant.

The screw driver made me cry.
