This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al'

Sheri had a unique opportunity to go to church this morning by herself. Bob's back was in really rough shape and he did not even want to get out of bed. Daughter number one (the one who wears her heart on her sleeve) and Daughter number two (the one who shields her heart with her sleeve), encouraged her to go by herself.  Since they were both here, which was a nice surprise Sheri left on her own.. She felt a bit lost without having to direct Bob and "Al" and look over her shoulder all morning. But the message from her Pastor eased her heart. There is nothing in this life we can suffer, that Jesus has not already suffered during his short life on this earth. Which is why Sheri knows she is not alone in her pain, in this Alzheimer world.  Bear your cross by focusing on others and not yourself. A lesson Sheri is still working on.
