This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri and Bob were headed home from "work" (code for Adult Day Center) last evening. Sheri mentioned stopping by Bob's favorite thrift store "Bethesda". This one they go to once a week to see if there is something to help keep Bob and "Al" occupied. "Al" turns to Sheri and with a question in his voice says "Bethesda" I know I have heard that name, but I have never been there... I have no idea where it is." This made Sheri's heart sad, this means things are changing, Bethesda is part of the routine that he depends on. Sheri can just feel "Al" destroying what is left of Bob's brain.
Sheri hates this disease.
