This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri needs to focus on having a grateful heart. She has many, many people in her life suffering far greater than she is. She has a acquaintance at church that was given 4-6 months to live recently. She has another friend that has just come out of a health issue that almost took his young life. She has her parents dealing with health issues that resulted from a car accident. Then yesterday she ran into a dear friend who lost her 19 or 20 year old son in a boating accident over the summer. Sheri expected her to be a mess, and yet she reached over and grabbed Sheri's jacket and with joy on her face said, "Sheri, when Kennedy died, people on the news were saying he was under the water for 64 hours blah, blah, blah. NO HE WASN'T he was in heaven the minute he took his last breathe, that is the promise when you believe in Jesus Christ!" Sheri had to pause and look in her eyes to be sure she was not going to burst into tears, but the joy was obvious. Then she said "Sheri it is not your time or mine yet, and we need to live that gift, by using our losses as a testimony to God".
Sheri had tears in her eyes as they embraced and a "grateful" amen formed on her lips.

Ephesians 2:8

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God

  1. Amen! What an encouragement...something we hope we can do for others when the time comes. Thanks for sharing that, Sheri.
