Bob always had to have a plan. Fun was never part of it. From the moment he woke up, he had to be doing some type of work. Fixing, building, changing something he built the week before. Even when the kids were little it took everything Sheri had to force Bob to relax or have some fun. It is one of the reasons it is so hard to keep Bob and "Al" busy now. Yesterday Bob was twiddling his thumbs asking Sheri what the plan was. Sheri said well, " It is Sunday and its cold out side" we are going to relax and rest a little while." "Al" replied "well that's not getting it done." Sheri replied "getting what done?" ""Al" retorted "what ever the plan is." Sheri chuckled and said "That is the plan" Bob shook his head has he struggled to get up from the chair, his knee buckled and Sheri caught him before he hit the floor. Sheri frustrated said "Bob where were you going?" "Al" replied " I am going to climb up on the roof and blow the leaves off."
A... right. Sheri needs a new plan :)
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.
