This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

So much about this life with Bob and "Al" is letting go of anything but the moment you are living in.  This is a hard lesson to learn, because our world teaches us differently. If "Al" is happy in the moment then that is what counts. Sheri has tried to focus on the things she knows about Bob that used to make him happy, but in a very simplified version. Painting bird houses and listening to old music, watching old videos. Although sometimes these things make Sheri feel sad... she knows it is what is best for Bob and "Al".
