This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Well as much as Bob likes helping Sheri clean up the kitchen, she thinks she may need eyes in the back of her head from now on. For several days Sheri has been trying to track down shall we say a rather unpleasant smell in the kitchen. Daughter number one ( the one who wears her heart on her sleeve) was able to spend some time and help her with the hunt. After pin pointing the general area in her very tiny kitchen, Sheri was surprised to find several items that say "refrigerate after opening" that "Al" had tucked neatly in the back of the cabinet. The items now had giant furry moss (you know the kind) covering the lid and the smell well... anyway Sheri is going to have to figure out a new strategy for letting Bob and "Al" help because she can't find anyone willing to put eyes in the back of her head and so far she has had to eliminate doing dishes and putting things away.  :)
