This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living With Bob and "Al"

Riding home from work yesterday at about 5:00 pm Sheri realized Bob is still consumed with the state of the economy . They passed a school along the way, "Al" shaking his head in frustration, said "Well look at that, even the playground has shut down... and the President doesn't think there is a problem."
Gotta love him!

  1. Alzheimer's disease is the most life threatening disease now a days. It gradually weakens our central nervous system! my maternal uncle is also suffering of Alzheimer's disease for the past two and a half years. The most pathetic thing is that,in my childhood days he was my only best companion but he sometimes fails to recognize me.

  3. I remember when Mom's doctor gave her a mini memory exam as a way to track the progression. This was when Clinton was President.

"Mrs C. who is the President of the US?"

"I don't know but he's in lots of trouble."

There insight is sometimes actually pretty amazing if indirect.
