This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri and Bob were watching TV last night. Bob is eating pretzels. Little Meeko the cat, starts getting into the pretzel bag. Bob reaches down and moves the pretzel bag from the coffee table to the side of his chair. About five seconds later "Al" reaches to coffee table for another handful of pretzels and turns to Sheri and says "Where did the pretzels go?" Sheri replies "they are by the side of your chair." Bob response with "well, I sure didn't put them there!"
Heavy sigh...  :)

  1. This is a common theme at our house. To me, there are two reasons why this is hard. First, the reminder of Al's constant companionship. Second, it is so hard for me not to point out that he is wrong, and I've been unjustly accused. I am getting better with this, but sometimes....
