This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al
Sheri thinks it is strange that "Al" is repeating himself with in minutes now, it used to be with in an hour or so. Now he will say something, and within two or three minutes say it again, and then again. Sheri is not sure if this is just the progression of the disease or not, it does not happen all the time. What a strange, strange disease.

Sheri, This is issue with immediate repetition is a normal progression of the disease.
ReplyDeleteMy mom would tell me something--take a sip of her water and tell the same thing again, as though she had no short term memory at all.
It feels so strange to us, I know, and difficult, because it's so tempting to tell them they're repeated themself.
Take care,
Sandy
Thank you Sandy!
