Yesterday after picking Bob up from "work" (code for adult day care) the weather was too windy to go walking the way they had been, so when they got home Sheri needed to find something for them to do. She realized when she went looking for something) that things in the kitchen were in such disarray because "Al" is not putting anything in the right place anymore, or he is just piling it on the counters or hanging things on the walls. So since it looked like they will be in the house a few more months, Sheri thought maybe she should go ahead and reorganize and label the kitchen drawers with where things go. She let Bob and "Al" help... oh my. Anyway, it took them several hours to do 5 drawers, most of the items she really just but back the place they had been for 15 years or so, before "Al" lost his way in the kitchen. When they were finished, Bob found a measuring cup on the counter that needed to be put away in a drawer, "Al" turned to Sheri and said "Well this is terrible now I don't know where anything goes!"
0y vey...
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.
