This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

The phone rings, Sheri can't get to it fast enough, Bob answers it. Sheri approaches Bob "Who is it?" She asks.
"Al" responses it is daughter number 1 ( No he does not call her that..LOL) then he hands the phone to Sheri. Sheri expecting daughter number 1, says hello daughter number 1. Sheri realizes quickly that it is not daughter number 1, it is Bob's sister ( whom sadly to say, is not quite with it either) the sister proceeds to say that she just wanted to call us and wish her brother Marty a Happy Birthday, and to thank Sheri for taking care of Sheri's Dad. Sheri realizes this conversation is going no where fast, and politely says thank you and good bye. After a moment of pause and reflection Sheri turns to Bob and "Al" and says "I think it might be your brothers birthday lets give him a call!" Sheri  found the whole thing quite humorous, and oddly just not that unusual in this crazy world of dementia.  :)
