This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri is trying hard to deal with repetition in a new way. For instance it takes about 15 minutes to drive from her home to Bob's Adult Day Care. Bob really does not talk much but since he has been on an anti depressant  more is coming to his head to say, lucky for me it is the exact same thing at  almost the exact same time every single day, It goes like this:
Minute 1- Wow look at how blue the sky is
Minute 3- Boy  HWY 7 sure is nice since they repaved it
Minute 5-Wow look at all the traffic
Minute 7-Wow look at all  the traffic heading north
Minute 9- I just don't understand how come Minnetonka can't have a downtown like Hopkins.
Minute 11- I can't believe the congress took paid days off without balancing the budget
Minute 13- Would you look how clean Hopkins is.
Minute 15-  ( pulling up to Day care) Well, I not sure my work is open yet what time do they open?
So yesterday Sheri, trying to deal with the repetition, and being able to predict what "they" are going to say made the statements to "Al" before he said it!
"Al" responded with a look of a amazement and said " I was just thinking the same thing!"   :)
