This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

If Sheri did not learn anything else today she learned that she made the right decision, in placing Bob and "Al" in day care while she is at work.Today Bob was trying to get the lawn mower to work, and as Sheri stepped inside
to get a drink, she heard a loud noise in the garage. Recognizing  it as a power tool of some sort, she ran downstairs to see "Al" standing amidst a cloud of sparks three feet around him  from the grinder he was using to try to sharpen the blade..The garage is full of garbage, cardboard, paper and oils and fluids hardly room to even walk. Sheri yelled "stop turn that thing off, there are sparks flying everywhere!" Bob turned it off in anger and threw the blade down, jaw clenched and breathing hard.
"Al" just doesn't get it. There is no judgment left at all.
