This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri is a getting a little concerned
Yesterday morning Bob
could not "find" the bagels...
She does not mean that he was looking
for the bagels, in the refrigerator or the like.
"Al" was standing in the middle of the kitchen
facing the microwave, looking in the kitchen drawers
Sheri said Bob "What are you looking for?"
"The bagels" Al answers, Sheri tries not to
look surprised .."well" she says "where do we usually keep the bagels?"
He pauses, looks around the kitchen and then points
"In the bread basket on top of the fridge?" Right, Sheri says.
he closes the kitchen drawer with the pancake flipper and
assorted kitchen tools and makes himsellf a bagel, whistling as is if
nothing unusual has just happened
I spy is getting to be a daily event...
Sometimes Sheri is glad that he does not realize whatt is happening

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace ...
