This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Bob and Sheri were working in her garden yesterday
Bob decided they should put a light on the angel in the garden
That sounded nice to Sheri too
They make the trip to the hardware store and get
a flood light on a stake
The package has 2 stakes on one electrical cord
They get home and set it up all is going well
Bob puts one flood light in works great
second light in, doesn't light up
Sheri suggests trying the bulb that works in the other
socket, to see if it is the bulb or the socket
the first bulb lights fine in the second socket
and so it began... the vicious cycle of "No Bob you already tried that"
They spent the next 45 minutes or so going back and forth
between the bulbs and the socket because "Al" could not remember
which bulb was which and by the time
"They" were done Bob decided that it was the socket and that we needed to return it
Sheri became more and more frustrated finally taking control of the situation
and insisted it was the bulb, and off to the hardware store they went
In the car on the way there "Al" turns to Sheri and says " That was stupid I forgot the socket!"
Sheri just keeps driving... Then Bob says "Maybe the hardware store will hire me back"

For some reason Sheri doesn't think so.
