This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Bob and Al are feeling
a little bit down
they are tired and sore
their confused and quite bored.

Sheri comes home at lunch
they sit in their chair
half asleep, with the ice pack
it just doesn't seem fair...

This is a man that worked
very hard all of his life
Now he has nothing to do
but stay home and play "wife"

They made the fudge
and the cookies too
two hours gone by...
Back to nothing to do

They did the wash
(in hot water..again)
Sheri's clothes have shrunk
(The dryer is not her friend)

The three of  them watched
a movie last night
They asked sooo.. many questions
Sheri even had a hard time keeping track

"Poor choice" Sheri thought
at  the end of the show
"Nights in Rodanthe"
a love story, oh how the tears flowed

Sheri sat on the couch
and cryed right up to the end
Bob and Al stared blankly
"Oh..it's over?" they said.

Bob and Al  looked at Sheri
and mumbled  "got a cold coming on?"
Sheri turned to them for a moment...
and then just moved on...

"How are you feeling" she said
wiping tears from her eyes
They turned back to her saying
"I am feeling just fine"

"Well its late" ( it's 8:30)
She said ( blowing her nose)
"Time for meds and to bed..."

This is their life......
Thats the way their days go...

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
