This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri opened up the the fridge
The electricity was out
She says to Bob
" hmmm...is there a fuse blown?"
Al says- he doesn't know.

So "they" look around to find
an extention cord to fit
but Al can not connect the cords-
(two flat sides don't mix)

It appears that Bob had decided
earlier in the day
To disconnect the well outside
They hadn't used in years.

And as the project started
Al's confused mind.. then took hold
"they" disconnected the refridgerator
Al said "the wires looked too old"

Seconds later as they are talking through
the "what do we do next"
Al plugs the dishwasher into that outlet
and says "Is the refrigerator back on yet?"

Sheri takes a momment
(not sure if she should laugh or cry)
They retrace all "their" steps that day
Atleast "their" gonna try...

The humor is her saving grace
yet there is no laughter in "their "eyes
it clear "they" are losing focus
as parts of Bob fade and die.....
