This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

The beginning of the end Chapter 7

After the catheter fiasco they tried yet a third dose of "calming medicine" there was about a 45 minute wait for the next test, they were hoping the medicine would take affect since "the boys would have to be very still for the next round of tests. "Al's" adrenaline was high and his jerking and grabbing was uncontrollable. The only thing Sheri could think of doing was to start singing and see if that would calm "them" down. She started singing "Zipity Do Da", and after a few verses Bob started to relax slightly and he began to try and sing, Sheri was glad he was relaxing his grip a little, because "Al" had Bob's huge hand tangled in Sheri's hair and was pulling hard.
