This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is having trouble seeing through her tears this morning. She signed the paper work for Bob and "Al"s" new home yesterday and the facility completed their assessment. Sheri is trying to follow her own advice and live in the moment... she is failing miserably.

  2. Dear Sheri, as you have encouraged your readers, I will PAUSE, PRAISE & PRAY for you as you are in a very difficult season. Please, if you would, let us know WHEN Bob will be moving to his new home and we can pray specifically then for you both.
    Love, KZ

  3. my heart is breaking for you Sheri...to make the decision for placement of our loved ones is gut wrenching at the very least...there are no words that will make this any easier for you as it just takes time...try to find the silver lining that is that Bob & Al will have people round the clock to look after him and keep him safe...the other silver lining is the load on your shoulders will lighten...it will get better...hugs...tanis

  4. When I did that for my wife and my well being it took me weeks to realize I did the right thing. My heart was broken, my soul ached, and my mind tryed to find some other solution other than mowing Her. I have done a lot of difficult things in,my life that was the hardest. Still makes me hurt thinking about it. But the truth is we have no choice. For our and their safety it all that's left . Takes months maybe even years to know that. may gods love give you peace, because sometimes that's all we have. Peter
