This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri was thinking about how patient the workers at the Adult Day Center must be. "Al" tried bolting yesterday headed right to the door at home and said "I quit this job, I am sure I can find another, I don't need this anymore they have stolen all my buttons." Redirecting did not help. Sheri can't imagine what it might be like with a room full of "Al's" all quitting at the same time :(
Sheri is very thankful for the workers at Open Circle.

  1. Sheri, I have to wonder how long you can continue to care for Bob at home without a tremendous cost to your own wellbeing. You are one strong and brace woman!

  2. Bob & "Al" are some times a challenge but they are such a pleasure to see every day. It's not always ways easy to calm them but very rewarding when we can. We are all in awe of how you caregivers do it! Hugs to everyone of you!!
