This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri should have known better. She was organizing some things and came across her wedding album. She brought it out to Bob and and sat with him to look through it. Bad idea, "Al" had no idea what he was looking at or who was who. No reaction at all. To lose your past as well as the present is one of the worst parts of this wretched disease, a few minutes at a time is all he has. There is a lesson in there somewhere, but Sheri will save it for tomorrow, today she is just sad.

  1. I am so sorry. The slow-motion loss is excruciating. To care for the one you are grieving adds another layer of pain. You hope for glimmers of the person they used to be. Hugs.

  2. So sorry for the loss you experience little by little, day by day. This disease is so cruel that way!
