This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri has said before that she knows the routine they have is what what keeps Bob grounded. More and more she is seeing that any change to her strict routine brings on agitation in "Al". Several times at the surprise engagement proposal, Sheri had to try and talk "Al" down, as his confusion and frustration took over and "Al's" agitation showed on Bob's face, and in his voice. Sheri had to fight that overwhelming feeling that she is in a race against time to hang on what little bit is left of Bob's mind.
Sheri needs to pause, praise and pray.
