This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is trying to appreciate things in the moment. Bob is in a stage where "Al" seems content to sit for hours pushing his beads around on his tray and listen to Daniel O'Donnell. Sheri is in a stage where she has no interest in housework or the laundry. So even though she had plenty of things she should have been doing, she had this overwhelming desire to try to teach herself how to paint, the creative side of her brain was in overdrive. So instead of doing all the things she needed to do, she did what she wanted on a rainy damp Sunday.
Sometimes you have to care for yourself, being creative is a stress reliever for Sheri. What is yours?

  1. Fabulous Sheri. I love watercolor but haven't taken the time to do it. I also have some beautiful fabric I purchased to make a quilt. Haven't done either. Your post is inspiring though!!!! xoxo Maureen

Oh, Sheri, you're good! That looks great but kind of wintry.
More spring in the next one!
What do I do? I used to go fly fishing. Got to get back to it.

  3. Yes, what a great way to do something for yourself. And such nice work too! As a caregiver, you need your respite to rejuvenate.

  4. This is a first attempt? Beautiful! Oil, or acrylic? It's good to escape into creativity.
