This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

The night before last "Al" did not sleep at all. Sheri was so tired and frustrated knowing she had to go to work exhausted she knew she better do something to improve her day. The weather man said it was foggy out at 6:45 am so she grabbed her camera for a just in case opportunity. She was crabby all the way to the Adult Day Center, and she could tell "Al" was reflecting back her mood. After dropping "them" off Sheri stopped at their favorite park which is right by Sheri's work. It was just  what she needed to clear her fog from her mind. ( well it helped till about 2 in the afternoon, then Mrs. crabby came back:) She knows she won't be able to continuing caring for Bob at home if she can not get any sleep, that situation will not help any one.

  1. So sorry, sleep is essential! But your photos made me happy, and I hope they sustain you until your head hits the pillow again for a long and uninterrupted sleep!

  3. Beautiful photos Sheri! Today was the first day I brought my husband to the "Senior Club", code for Adult Day Care. I remember the first time I went there looking for a support group for alzheimers and never imagining him ever being ready for a place like this. Well today that day came. Very sad . . . but I am relieved to have help. xoxoxox
