This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

In Bob's repetitive world he lives in, he rediscovers things he likes daily. Hence "Al" has been bringing home from "work" (code for Adult Day Center) a copy of the words to the song "The Rose"  by Bette Midler almost daily for about 2 years. A song "Al" says Bob always liked. So with copies of "the Rose" piling up, Sheri decided to be creative and find a use for them. When Sheri and Bob first started dating Bob would buy a fake rose at the local gas station and give one to her several times a month. Maybe there is a subliminal message in the lyric pages Bob brings home. Paper roses seem appropriate :).
