This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

The challenges of additional medical issues with someone that Alzheimer's are great. "Al" does not remember to not bend over to pick something up off the ground because his pain to brain signal no longer connects. So trying to avoid further injury and pain is almost impossible. :(
Sheri hates this disease.

  1. I so understand, Sheri. My Al had back surgery and under no circumstance was he to twist or bend over. No way could I stop that. Hmmm, maybe a body cast...

  2. When Bill was diagnosed with prostate cancer we discussed treatment plans, agreed to a course, paused for a time and then repeated same. He managed to remember he had the diagnosis, but could not remember we had a plan. Isn't one disease enough? Guess not. Sally E.
