This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri knows God has a plan for her life. She needs to remember to pause, praise and pray.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

  1. Amen Sheri - needed the prayer this morning as my heart is heavy - and always afraid. Thanks

    1. Thankyou for sharing your 'three' lives so honestly! Today, in two and a half hours time (Australian) I will be sitting in a geriatric specialists room to start the process of a possible diagnosis of early onset alzheimers of my husband who I will call G58. We have been on a waiting list since December 2014. Bloods have been done but doctor says nothing to report. Head, neck MRI about 18 months ago clear (preformed for migraines, severe, one sided) G58 repeating, forgetful takes wrong roads on normal routes, starts tasks and wonders off to something else, fixates on buying certain things ( apples 32kg, potatoes 20kg, bananas 25+kg etc) for TWO of us. All in small quantities but each day until he remembers not to buy more! May God continue to bless you abundantly. C

    2. I hope your appointment went ok, and I pray it was something other than this awful disease. But if it is, know the are others like you and we are all in this together. hugs and prayers.

    3. Thankyou so much for your hugs, prayers and comforting words. I drove the hour home to the farm in a complete daze and am currently working in auto mode. G58 has to have another MRI to compare. Consult today lasted one and a half hours. DR was very thorough, G58 got very confused unable to remember the season of the year, couldn't write a sentence, answer to 100-7 was 84 etc. I think you probably follow. Dr said she was very concerned about him and things are far from right. I have been reading through alot of articles on your site. Yes John 14:27 is just so appropriate at the moment! I'm sure you can understand my feelings of fear and aloneness at present. This is the first blog I've ever responded to and am still finding my way around things ( bit of a late starter!) I will try and log in properly soon but will email you meanwhile. With Christian love and hugs 😃

    1. Karen, as i think back he had symptoms at least 5 or more years before diagnosis, but we had grown apart and I just wasn't paying attention. May have been much longer
