Sheri can sense that things are sliding a bit with Bob and "Al". More subtle changes that one might miss if you are not paying attention. Sheri spent 45 minutes yesterday looking for Bob's back and knee brace, this tiny house she rented really does not leave to many options for where he might have put them, come to find out he slept with them on, something the doctor said he should not do, and of course Bob had no idea "Al" still had them on. Then Sheri took Bob with her to the grocery store as usual. While Sheri started to unload the cart Bob and "Al" were hovering over another lady and the ladies purse at the end of the check out lane, Sheri called him back to stand by her and has she was unloading the rest of the cart on to the movable belt, "Al" was behind her taking the items and bagging them, which would have been a big help.... if the cashier had rung them up first.
Oy vey :)
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Hi Sheri. My husband is also slipping some right now, always scary to see. My husband tends to slip each year in fall and winter. Have you ever noticed that pattern with Bob? I was wondering if the decrease in sun light is part of it. Sue
ReplyDeleteMy Dh has more trouble in the colder months. Sometimes he just sits and stares at nothing. I try to get him out more even if it is to eat lunch. He does much better if he does something and gets out. He follows me everywhere in the grocery store. If I go to pick up something he is right there. He doesn't unload the cart, just stands there. He used to bag things and carry them out. No longer does that either.
ReplyDeleteI guess I really had not thought about a seasonal pattern, but there might be something to that Sue. Brenda and Sue we seem to be in similar stages huh?
