This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri wonders why "Al" has the need to be the best at everything. He "won" all the games at work again, did better everyone else. Bob never ever cared about things like that...

I, obviously have little expertise in this area. However, Bob was always so very peaceful and so easy going, so it is out of his character. I do a fair amount of reading about psychological traits, problems etc. and maybe in his subconcious that competitive trait was always present, just held in check by a more dominant peaceful trait. It just needed this highly specialized situation to manifest itself.
