This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob's caseworker, has been encouraging Sheri to start researching Memory Care Facilities. She says many of them have a wait list several years long, so even if Bob and "Al" are not ready now, it is good to be prepared. Sheri is having a hard time forcing herself to think that far out. She has had to force herself to live in "Al's" one moment in time world, which frankly helps keep her depression at bay. But she knows in her heart that this is good advise. It would not take much more than a fall or a hospital stay to change things dramatically.
Sheri hates this disease.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

  1. This is a hard one. I have looked at a few places, but I always feel like I am betraying my husband when I do this, and it is depressing. Special prayers for you today.

  2. Sheri - What has changed that makes the case worker think it's time to begin looking?
