This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

In Sheri's never ending quest to find something for Bob and "Al" to do. They took a trip to the craft store. Bob saw some unfinished bird houses. Oddly enough the same ones that he and Sheri had painted years ago at their old house, a little barn and small hut type thing. Bob had painted the primer on them them and Sheri painted them with bright bold detail. Bob showed some interest in painting them again, so Sheri thought why not. They took them home and Bob spent the rest of the day with a large paint brush, whistling away, priming them so the they would not get destroyed outside in the frozen tundra. When Bob woke up this morning and saw the 2 birdhouses that he had primed, the night before, quizzically "Al" looked at Sheri and said " I am surprised these held up as well as they did, accept all the colorful paint has washed off."   :)
