This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri has read many things about the sense of smell being affected by Alzheimer's and Dementia but sense of taste? Bob was hungry (again) and was making himself a sandwich. "Al" piled mustard (and only mustard) between two slices of bread, and ate it without wincing once. Sheri's on the other hand jaw hurt (the hurt you get went something is bitter or sour) just watching him eat that.  :0

  1. Doesn't it make you wonder where their sense of taste went? I can't imagine eating that. I hope he continues to eat but maybe adds a little more to the sandwich!
