This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri turned 55 this week. Turning 50 did not bother her, turning 55 for some reason did. She is looking at her life backwards, forwards, and from the inside out. She is just not sure she has really done anything she may have wanted to do. But then again she has never really known what she wanted to do. She kinda feels as if she has let her life lead her instead of the other way around. The fact that life with Bob and "Al" makes her feel much older that she is, is probably part of it. She needs to figure out a way to honor God but also live life with the passion and zest for life that God intended her to have. Even if she needs to have Bob and "Al" in tow, they will just need to come along for the ride.

  1. Oh, I so understand how you feel about life leading you instead of the other way around! My plan is to choose to be grateful and joyful and move on!!

  2. I really feel for you, but age is just a number!! Even the mist positive outlook can sometimes have cloudy skies. Hang in there.

  3. Happy Birthday Sheri. The best thing God asks of us is to love one another and take care of each other. You are doing both with grace and dignity. I think going through something like this does age you faster. It wears me out. You know what they say, "Life is what happens to you when you are making other plans". God picked you for this caring and I think you are doing your calling. Hugs, Brenda (alfwilk)
