This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob has a bit of a cold, he has been coughing at night, and off and on during the day. When Sheri picked him up from "work" yesterday, he started coughing as he got into the car. Sheri told him she made a doctors appointment. "Al" turned to Sheri and said "Why? That is the first time I have coughed at all today", and within seconds started to cough again. All though it was humorous, the bigger issue is that with this horrible disease, they really just don't know that they are forgetting that fast. Other's not living in this day to day, minute by minute cannot possibly understand. Bob has to give up complete control and trust that Sheri knows what is right for him. Sheri has to trust God for guidance.
