This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is always in pursuit of someplace to take Bob and "Al". It was windy and cold so being outside was not an option. So Sheri decided to make a trip to their favorite thrift store. They roamed around for a few minutes and then Bob came across a frame that had words of thanks and appreciation all over it with a nice "couldn't do it with out you" type saying in the middle of it. Bob said "Oh we should buy this so I can take it to "work" (code for Adult Day Center). They can give it someone  there who deserves it." Sheri was surprised by his thought process and it was $.99 cents, so Sheri thought to herself sure why not. The next morning while preparing for work, Sheri put it close to the door so they would not forget to take it with them. "Al" picks it up and with a huge smile asks Sheri if she had a chance to read it. Then he proudly states "I am not sure when I got this, but it is an award "work" gave me."
Sheri was not quite sure what to say. (heavy sigh)  :)
