This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Today is Bob's 69th birthday. Sheri believes in her heart that Bob is more content then he has ever been his life. Mainly because he is living only in the moment, wherever he is. There is a lesson to be learned in that for all of us. Sheri is not really sure how old "Al" is, she knows she did not recognize the signs. Sadly because she was self absorbed in all the things that Bob wasn't... to see what "Al" was. Sheri will rejoice in this day, even though she is sure that "Al" ...will out live Bob. But how many birthdays will "Al" have left, Sheri is going to choose not to think about it. Happy Birthday my kind and gentle man,  I love you.

  1. Sheri,

May this day be filled with Joy. Guilt is a heavy load. You didn't know. Most of us know very little about Alzheimer's when we start this journey. We learn as we go.
