This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living With Bob and "Al"

Daughter number one (the one who wears her heart on her sleeve) and daughter number two (the one who shields her heart with her sleeve) made Sheri and Bob's anniversary very special. They hung "notes" all over the house to remind "Al" that it was their anniversary. "Al" was surprised to hear that they got married in Texas. Of course the realization that he really did not remember where they were married hurt, but Sheri still had a good chuckle about it. The day was good and it ended sharing dinner with some close friends from their small group bible study. Sheri is learning to be thankful for each day....just the way it is. One day at a time.

  2. Happy late anniversary! I am glad you were able to have a laugh and enjoy friends. I think being able to enjoy being in the moment, is one of the gifts of being a caregiver.

  3. Happy late anniversary Sheri! It is heartbreaking what this disease steals from the memory. Praying for a cure or better meds soon! Praise the Lord your daughters are so kind and thoughtful!
