This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri is so confused.
there seems to be confusion amongst the staff
at the nursing home as to Bob and "Als'" condition.
making Sheri question if there is anything wrong with "them" at all.
What has become challenging is that Bob and "Al" can fully take care of all of their
personal needs, dressing, showering, shaving,  feeding that type of thing.
And yet he can not play a simple game, find things in his room (Out of site out of mind)
Remember why he is there or to leave the exercises taped to the wall that the therapist put there.
follow simple directions without asking over and over what the direction was.
Sequencing is what they call it I think she said, and he scored low on the safety issues as well
Yet the occupational therapist said he just needed minimal supervision while the social worker said 24 supervision. So now Sheri s confused and is not sure what "the plan" is...
