This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri decided to take Bob
and daughter number two , to the movies
last night to get out of the house.
Other that church Sheri and Bob to not get out often
They have not been to a movie in over a year.
All seems to going reasonalbly well.
Sheri knows that Bob can not follow a plot
so he just kind of stares at the screen
But alteast they are not sitting at home.
about 45 minutes into the movie
Bob says he needs to use the restroom
Something Sheri really had not thought about
He gets up, all 6'4 of him with his cane
Sheri feeling rather normal  for a moment, is not thinking about her Alzheimer life
is watching the movie (after all he has gone to the restroom from this theater before)
as he is starting down the row of people, Sheri panics
realizing that if "Al" can't find the toaster or the phone at home
he is not going to be able to find  the restroom or his way back...
What was she thinking, she jumps up and disturbs the row again
and follows him out, she tests him to see if he has any idea which way to go
or what number theater they came out of ... but of course he fails miserably
Sheri hates this disease....
