This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri had a plan to host Thanksgiving for 10 people
Friends, since family is not close by
It did not turn out quite as she expected
Oh, she did host Thanksgiving but as is turned out
she was not there for it.
Odd as it is, Sheri learned she has a lot more
to be thankful for, than she could have ever known
going into this  holiday season .
She is thankful for good friends that stayed at the house with
Bob and "Al" on Thanksgiving , did the entertaining and finished
preparing the food, while daughter number 2
and her boyfriend took Sheri to the ER with blood pressure
has high as 207 over 117...
Thankful for a very kind doctor and nurses that were working on
Thanksgiving.
But most of all she is thankful for the time she spent with daughter number 2
the one that shields her heart with her sleeve, strong in a crisis
and forgiving of Sheri's past failures as a mother
mending broken fences of life by a few sincere words expressed in love.
She reminded Sheri that taking care of herself
just might be as important as taking care of Bob and "Al".
And although Sheri and daughter number 2 missed Thanksgiving
altogether at home... they shared moments of thanksgiving
unlike any other.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
