This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Things are traveling
all around the kitchen these days
Daughter number 2 was home this weekend
She decided to make something to eat
She needed to cut up some onion and went to get the cutting board
Bob (who firmly believed in a place for everthing
and everything in its place)
Had a nail for the cutting board in the side of the kitchen cabinet
it has been there say, 15 years.
Daughter number two looks there...and in the sink and so forth
but to no avail.
Bob hears her ask Sheri "Mom have you seen the cutting board?"
Bob says "It is hanging by the side of the cabinet where it always is"
"No, I have already looked there" says daughter number two.
"Yes it is" Bob says has he hobbles over to prove her wrong.
"Dad" she says frustrated "It is NOT there!"
"Al" walks over to the side of the OTHER the other kitchen cabinet and
and says "It is right here where it always has been hanging on the nail"
Daughter number two looks at Sheri shaking her head
But they got even with "Al" a little later when he was sure
the bagels were kept in the cabinet with the plates...
Now if Sheri could just find the apple slicer.
