This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Bob is always cold
So Sheri found the electric blanket
That Bob used last year
After all this is the frozen tundra
And she does have a house that has
wind chill inside... anyway
She told Bob to turn it on to make sure it worked
Sheri was brushing her teeth
When she heard an unusual  noise
She peaked around the corner to see
"Al" struggling with the controller for the blanket
He was using all his strength to turn the knob
Sheri asked "Bob what are you doing"
"Al" said " Trying to turn this on, it is really stuck"
Sheri walks over and touches the top of the knob
and it turns easily
Bob looks frustrated, and tries again, he still can't turn it
"Al" looks confused.. Sheri is not sure why he can't turn a simple knob
"Well" Sheri says "how about we just leave it set at 5?"
