This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Yesterday Bob and Al spent a large amount of time
looking for a filter and plastic piece for the wet dry vac.
After exhausting the better part of the day looking for it
Sheri suggested that they go to the store to see if they sell a
replace filter and plastic piece...
They get to the store and by then they have added several other items
to the list on the index card in Bob's pocket resulting in them
needing to each push a cart
So they pick up the several other items
and start to look for the area with the wet dry vac
They ask a clerk and he points them in the right direction
the other side of the store of course
They  approach the wall of wet vacs and Sheri says
"why don't you take a look and see if they have what you need"
Al stops and looks at Sheri, "which is?"Sheri pauses and says
"the filter thingy you have been looking for all day"
"Oh, why do we need it?" Sheri says "I don't know you just said you needed it
and could'nt find it" Al says "don't we have one of those at home?"
Sheri says ( getting frustrated) "well you thought you did but you couldn't find it"
Al says "well if we couldn't find it and we don't need it why are we looking for it?"
Sheri says (heavy sigh) "Good point"
Sheri walks away shaking her head pushing her cart... Bob and Al following right behind
Then Sheri realizes "Al" must have decided we didn't need the other
items in "their" cart either, Cause cart # 2 was no where in sight!

Round and round we go!

  1. Sheri,

I enjoyed your shopping trip so much, thank you for sharing it. I made more than a few of the exact same trip with Mom to Walmart.

Sometimes, you just have to smile and love it.

    Take care,
    Sandy
