This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Well Sheri came home from work today
to something new...

Sheri learned she needs to look inside the oven
BEFORE turning it on!

  1. Do you have anyone who can stay with Bob and Al while you take a break. Even if it is just going to the bookstore and treating yourself to a coffee while you browse. Some states have respite care available. You might check with your local Alzheimer's chapter and ask for a referral to community programs. Some provide in home care while you are at work.

Take a moment and know you are doing a good job! Consider giving yourself the gift of time to re-charge, the time to re-new. It is difficult to care for others if you are exhausted and running on empty.
