This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri sees the sadness on
Bob's face everyday
He wants to work, he wants to drive
He wants something to do to be alive

He tried to blow the leaves again
His knees gave out he just can't win
He tried to make the cookies he likes
Left out the flour, didn't taste quite right

With ice pack in hand he sits in his chair
Can't get the TV on so he sits and stares.
Then Sheri gets home from a long day at work
And "Al" says "lets go bowling, Oh wait do we have church?"

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

  1. Sheri,

I understand the sadness in Bob that you write about, I see it along with confusion, fear and helplessness in my grandmother each day. Be encouraged in your care for him, may Psalm 34:8 be taken deep into your heart.

    Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
