This weekend Sheri took Bob and "Al"
To the Science Museum downtown
Sheri doesn't usually venture that far...
(her own issues with driving)
But the "Dead Sea Scrolls" exhibit was there
something she and Bob both wanted to see
So she ignored her fears and went for it.
The exhibit was very good, seeing finds from bible days
Sheri thought was amazing.
But most amazing was gazing down into a case
in a dimly lit room and staring into the Words of God written
on a small pieces of parchment paper
Sheri pushed Bob up as close to the case as she could
get the wheelchair
She put her hand on the glass case above the words on the scroll
and she said a prayer
And at that moment, although she can't explain it
God assured her that He knows right where
she is in this journey, she is not alone
and reminded her
that our ways are not His ways...
2Cor.4:16
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day."
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Sheri - My heart goes out to you and your family. There is no good disease. Yet I know that our walk on this journey though challenging is important. I took care of my Mother in my home for about 10-1/2 years. The last 6 months she was in a care facility because I had been hospitalized with pancretitis.
ReplyDeleteI believe that faith and love not only helps us get through this journey but gives those around us strength. You will probably never know all the people that -You, Bob and "Al". Have touched.
You truely are an inspiration and have the gift of encouragement. Thanks for writing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words! It is nice to know someone is out there! Sheri
