Bob has, in the past failed to recognize
that "Al" exists
But yesterday when Sheri came
home for lunch
Bob looked at the refrigerator and saw
a note stuck to the fridge door
something about a call from the phone company
he stared at it for the longest time.
Puzzled "Al" said to Sheri.."Do you know who wrote this note?
It almost looks like it is in my handwriting?"
He looked down at his feet in his old familar way
has if he had been scolded.
It was a silent recogniton that he realized something
was not right about that....he went on about
his business. Sheri is a little worried about this though
because in the past when Bob has come across a note
like this, upon seeing the note (visual clues they call it )
Bob has been able to recall who , what, where, when kinda sorta
His non-recall was a different reponse for even Sheri
But it was the first time Sheri felt that just maybe
Bob might beleive that "Al" is sharing space with him.
But for Sheri it was a sign that "Al" is sharing more space then before.
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.
