This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

  1. There aren't any words that will make this part of your journey any easier, but all I can say is there is an "after" after alzheimers, we just all take different paths in different ways and lengths of time to find our "after". Tomorrow will be difficult, but you've shown us all that you are strong and that strength will get you through the next part of your journey! My thoughts are with you and yours, Tanis

  2. My Dad is going through the stages of this most undignified disease. He is not at the point of Memory Care, which I don't think our family could afford anyways. You have done a fantastic job with what your situation has allowed you. This disease is such an ongoing process, as we know. I am trying to get to grips with my dad. A daily thing. Sometimes I ell like throwing up, or screaming too. Much condolences to you and your daughters.

  3. Praying for you all today. HE is your rock, your fortress, your refuge (from Psalm 62). Wish I could be with you all today.

    Hugs, KZ

  5. I am too as well, as a commentator above dealing with my father and Alzheimers. Most days lately have been a stab to the heart. With nasty mean comments out of the blue. Thank you so much for sharing your journey, as it is really, an awful one. Much love.
